They used the DSL niche research system to find a profitable niche with strong supplier networks, healthy margins, and clear demand.
Step 2: Building the Store for Conversions
Next came setting up the store. And here’s where most beginners make mistakes: they overcomplicate it.
This student followed the DSL Shopify setup process:
- Used a clean, conversion-focused Shopify theme.
- Highlighted trust signals like phone number, live chat, and secure checkout.
- Added detailed product descriptions with high-quality images.
- Structured the homepage for clarity: collections, top sellers, and reviews front and center.
The goal was not just to look pretty, but to build trust and make it easy for visitors to buy.
Step 3: Driving High-Intent Traffic
You can have the best store in the world, but without traffic, it won’t matter.
Instead of relying on Facebook ads or “hope marketing,” this student started with Google Shopping Ads (Product Listing Ads). Why? Because shoppers searching for specific products already have buying intent.
Within the first week of ads running, the store had its first sale. By month three, traffic from Google PLAs was consistent, profitable, and scalable.
Step 4: Scaling With Systems
After hitting $30K in month one and $70K by month three, it was time to focus on systems and scaling.
Here’s what they implemented:
- Email marketing automation to recover abandoned carts and increase repeat orders.
- Outsourcing customer service tasks like order tracking and FAQ responses to a VA.
- Supplier relationship building, which unlocked better margins and faster shipping times.
With these systems in place, the business could handle growth without burning out.
